Remington 1100 Parts
For those of you that have a 12 gauge Remington model 1100, specifically the 'magnum' version that can handle 3' shells, does the serial number on the receiver end with a M or a V? Does the receiver say 'magnum' on the right side? Does your barrel have a two letter code on the left side just ahead of the receiver (not the code describing the choke)?
I'm looking at buying a used semi-auto shotgun, and I've always liked the older Remington 1100s. I've located a really nice one which is supposedly a 3' magnum. The barrel has a 3' chamber, but the info on the receiver suggests it is only for 2 3/4' shells - the receiver serial number ends with a 'V', and the receiver doesn't say 'magnum' anywhere. I'm trying to figure out if this type of marking was common with the earlier (late '60s) 1100s, as the current owner claims.

- Remington dates of manufacture Remington made use of a two or three letter Firearms Identification Code that can be located on the left side of the barrel, just ahead of the frame. The first letter of the code identifes the month, the other letter(s) identify the year.
