What is Star Wars Battlefront? Star Wars: Battlefront is a 1st and 3rd person shooter video game based on the Lucas Arts Star Wars film genre. Developed by Pandemic Studios and published by LucasArts, it is the first of the released games in the Star Wars: Battlefront series. It was initially released for some other platforms on 21st September 2004, to co-incide with the release of the Star Wars Trilogy DVD set. Aspyr released the Macintosh port in July 2005. Star Wars: Battlefront II game is primarily played as a conquest game, however other modes such as Galactic Conquest bring strategy elements to the gaming experience. Battlefront is played in a variety of environments from major Star Wars battles, and includes voice acting from veteran voice actors Temuera Morrison, Tom Kane, and Nick Jameson. It gained wide acclaim and favourable reviews from various critics. The multiplayer part and the ability to play in part of the major Star Wars battles are it's most ingenious and gratifying parts, but it can be found lacking in the single player game section and poor AI were areas that it failed to impress in its overall gaming experience. Battles in Star Wars: Battlefront 2 unfold not only on earth but also in space. Armed to the teeth with heavy cruisers, shuttles with the landing groups and fighters of all models (including the famous X-Wing and TIE Fighter) attached. The List of classes will increase, but LucasArts does not hurry to reveal a new type of character. Hey guys, as mentioned in this thread, Star Wars Battlefront is not compatible with Mac OS. I don't want to start a discussion about PCs and Macs and which is more powerful, since they both have their strengths and weaknesses. Yes, you can install Windows via Bootcamp on a Mac and, if everyhting goes well, also play some games made for Windows PCs. For the first time in gaming history, after countless games depicting various aspects of the rich Star Wars universe (including some we never wanted to see), players have the chance to step into the boots of the average soldier in the wars that raged across the galaxy. Gameplay is based on the successful standards set by Battlefield 1942, but combat in Battlefront is even more massive and heated, vehicles are more predominant and the familiar starships are also included. There are three different game modes to play: Historical Campaign (featuring a series of 'historical' battles from the Star Wars mythos), Conquest (in which players vie for dominance of individual planets) and, of course, Instant Action. The game puts two pairs of factions at war: Republic vs Separatists and Rebel Alliance vs Galactic Empire. Each faction has four standard unit types (soldier, heavy weapons trooper, scout and pilot) plus a fifth, special unit which differs radically for each side. Famous Jedi and Sith are included as NPCs only in selected battles. Finally, the game offers almost all of the vehicles seen in the movies for players to fly, drive or hover and prevail. (MobyGames)
